Free Music Friday Episode XXIX

Happy St. Patty's day/March Madness, Buffalo!  I hope this FMF finds you well and that your brackets are still in order after day one of the tourny.  Unfortunately for me, the Purdue loss crushed my bracket and my dreams of finally winning this damn thing for once!  Oh well, There's always next year.  We have some excellent music for you to enjoy this weekend.  Whether your sitting on the couch all day watching basketball, or getting out and enjoying the parades; free music is the perfect compliment to any activity! So get to listening, and revel in some free music!

Black Milk - The Rebel

New single from Black Milk and his band, Nat Turner.  For those of you that were Lucky enough to catch Black's show at the waiting room this past fall, you already know that him and his band know how to rock some live instrumentation.  They're dropping a live instrumental LP titled The Rebellion Sessions and "The Rebel" is one of the tracks off of it with added lyrics from Black Milk.  According to black, the album is a jazz-funk opus that was recorded over the span of a week and will be released on April 4th.   You can stream the single below.  There is also a download link on the soundcloud page.

Tyler The Creator & ASAP Rocky - Golf Media Freestyle

A decent little freestyle from the two touring partners.  Nothing serious - you can tell these two are just having some fun in the studio, but I like the way their styles compliment eachother.   ASAP's laid back, off beat flow pairs well with upbeat, syncopated, crazy-ass rhymes. Stream below, or download here.

Royce Da 5'9" - Dead President Heads & Tabernacle

BARS.  No Hooks, just Royce spitting lyrics for almost 7 straight minutes.  "Dead President Heads" is a gift to fans from Royce, who had too much material for his forthcoming album, Layers.  Royce will be releasing a full LP for free with the extra material.

Now to "Tabernacle."  This video and song are absolutley incredibe - it's an amazing story about what Royce calls "the most significant day of my life."  I got a little choked up watching this - I can't remember the last time that happened from watching a rap video.  Just watch it.

L'indecis - Moka

A nice, 6-track EP from french producer, L'indecis.  Moka a features 5 instrumentas, as well one song with lyrics.  The production has a very jazzy feel and features a lot of horn samples.  I'm also digging the album art - those Bialetti espresso makers are the truth.

Kazumi Kaneda - Beats Note

Some more dope jazz vibes, this time from Tokyo based producer, Kazumi Kaneda.  This dude has some serious chops on the piano, and he shows off his skills all over Beats Note's 8 tracks.  Has a Robert Glasper feel to it, which is about as good a compliment as any for an aspiring jazz/hip hop pianist.  Check it out.
