Walk, Buffalo!

Walk, Buffalo!
Lace up your sneakers. This is THE weekend to walk in Buffalo.

Start with Garden Walk Buffalo. Stretching from Erie Basin Marina to Delaware Park, and from Grant Street to Main Street, try to see as many of the 416 participating gardens as possible. Since you would have to go to 14.6 gardens per minute on both Saturday and Sunday between 10:00am and 4:00pm to see them all, wise walkers will choose a few of the dozen neighborhoods that are flourishing with the help of this property-value and civic pride-enhancing event, and hop on the free trolleys to cover more ground.

As many as 75,000 visitors from across the nation and around the world are expected to trek through hundreds of backyard gardens throughout Buffalo’s West Side this weekend. Walk with them, and if they are from someplace else, welcome them to Buffalo in true Citybration style!

Should you have an ounce of energy to spare, consider participating in Walk Off Hunger. This 1.9 mile family-friendly walk through lovely Williamsville neighborhoods supports the important work of the Food Bank of WNY. Registration starts at 10:00am and if your FitBit is demanding more steps, follow the team that plans to walk the route twice.

If you run out of time this weekend but are still looking for ways to walk for a cause, consider the Buffalo Walk to Defeat ALS in Delaware Park on Saturday, August 1. The Color Run also sounds like fun on that same day in Delaware Park and it benefits Shoes on Students (SOS).
