If You’re Not Traveling This Spring Break, Buffalo Has Some Awesome Day Trips
I generally spotlight articles about Buffalo that appear in national or foreign publications. UB's on campus newspaper The Spectrum hardly qualifies.
However, students on the UB North Campus are, for the most part, so unaware of the city after which the school is named; so ignorant of the wealth of opportunity that this city offers; and so unwilling or unable to make the 1.5 mile trek into "town," that it's almost a foreign population.
This is no more notable than in the article itself. If you’re not traveling this spring break, Buffalo has some awesome day trips, by Max Kalnitz, Spectrum arts staff writer, appeals to the unfortunates who failed to make it to the beach:
"But if you’re staying put this spring break, fear not! Buffalo can be really fun, even in the middle of winter. Buffalo is a super lively city and there’s always something to do. Between indoor attractions like rock climbing, outdoor activities like hiking and Canada so close to us, staying local this spring break isn’t so horrible.
It may not be your No. 1 choice but if you have a few hundred dollars to spend during spring break, Buffalo is a fun place to be. Here are our top five picks for a Buffalo “staycation” during spring break."
A few hundred dollars? Isn't so horrible? Seriously? Here are Max's five picks:
- Niagara Climbing Center, 1333 Strad Ave., North Tonawanda
- Fallsview Indoor Waterpark, 5685 Falls Ave., Niagara Falls, Canada
- Eternal Flame Falls, 6121 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Orchard Park
- The Buffalo Zoo, 300 Parkside Ave., Buffalo
- Canal Side, 44 Prime St., Buffalo
Note that only two are in Buffalo. And what a bizarre selection of destinations for college students looking for a good time.
