Collectors & Artisans Expo to benefit two local high schools
Two high schools located in Buffalo’s Irish Heritage District will benefit from the second Collectors & Artisans Expo taking place just one week before St. Patrick’s Day in the historic Buffalo Irish Center, 245 Abbott Road, South Buffalo.
The Saturday, March 10 event will feature dozens of local vendors and artisans selling a wide variety of merchandise, from antiques, collectibles and memorabilia to unique handcrafted items.
A portion of the proceeds collected at the event — including 100 percent of the $2 admission price — will be donated to Mount Mercy Academy and Bishop Timon - St. Jude High School. The Buffalo Irish Center will also receive a portion of the proceeds.
“We heard a lot of great feedback regarding our first Collectors’ Expo event held at the Irish Center on Sept. 9, so we decided to try it again at a different time of year and open it up to a few additional artisans,” said West Seneca resident Joe Kirchmyer, organizer of the Expo. “We couldn’t be more excited to be returning to our city’s Irish Heritage District just a week before St. Patrick’s Day. We hope the entire community will stop by for the festivities, support local merchants and help out some great organizations.”
Located at 88 Red Jacket Parkway, Mount Mercy Academy is a Catholic college preparatory high school for young women. “I’m a graduate of Bishop Timon, and my wife Maureen is a graduate of Mount Mercy,” added Kirchmyer, “so we are thrilled to have this opportunity to give back to these schools that still mean so much to us today.”
Antique appraisals by Water Valley Antiques will be offered during the March event. The cost will be $2 per item, or a maximum of three appraisals for $5.
Admission at the door will be just $2 per person. Food will also be available for purchase during the event thanks to the Irish Center kitchen staff. Plenty of free parking is available in the Irish Center parking lot, along Abbott Road and on nearby neighborhood streets.
